DLA 2012:

Dialogue on GeoDesign, 3D-Modeling and Visualization in Landscape Architecture

From 31 May until 2 June, 2012 the international community and digital experts in Landscape Architecture came together to exchange and discuss the latest developments in Computer Sciences regarding Landscape Architecture. For the thirteenth time, Anhalt University offered a platform for these scientific, international dialogues. The more than 200 participants from 24 different countries show the emerging significance of the DLA Conference in Landscape Architecture and its neighboring disciplines.

The Program Committee of the DLA managed once more to target the trend in the fast growing field of digital communication and virtual working challenges. Thanks to more than 60 presentations and workshop contributions, the conference participations were inspired by a wide range of intriguing topics. Within the main focus ?GeoDesign for Integrated Geospatial Planning and Design? the following focuses were addressed:

·       INTRODUCTION TO GEODESIGN

·       TEACHING METHODS IN DIGITAL LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE

·       TEACHING PLANNING AND DESIGN IN LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE

·       GEODESIGN CONCEPTS AND APPLICATIONS AND

·       CURRENT TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENTS IN GEODESIGN

·       GEODESIGN AND PARTICIPATION

·       LANDSCAPE MODELING AND DESIGN

·       VISUALIZATION AND VIRTUAL REALITY IN LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE

·       STANDARDIZATION AND BIM

Contributions to these conferences come from leading landscape architectural firms as well as the research labs of universities with programs in Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning.

The DLA conference series is chaired by Professor Erich Buhmann of Anhalt University whereas an international and interdisciplinary scientific conference program committee is responsible for the profile and concept of the DLA series. It is intended that the conference is held every second year at locations of university partners outside the Anhalt region. The DLA 2009 was hosted by the University of Malta in Valletta and the DLA 2014 will be held at the ETH in Zurich, Switzerland. The DLA 2013 and DLA 2015 will be held again in Bernburg/Dessau, Germany.

The 600 pages peer reviewed proceedings Digital Landscape Architecture 2012 including contributions to the thirteenth DLA and updated versions to the twelfth DLA conference and are published by Wichmann Verlag.
